The house designer for Calvin Klein, Italo Zucchelli, identifies
Calvin Klein as the essence of American sportswear. He hopes to fuse
the athleticism of the label with his own talents and strengths in
tailoring and creativity.

This season futuristic fabrics and colors were refreshing imitating a
mix of Southern France and Americana. The athletic theme
kept Zuchelli to his word and presented striped football
tops and pants that also created the illusions of a single piece.

The bad news is that Zucchelli’s collection for Calvin Klein has
been accomplished by other brands or designers. The fabrics were treated with a
futuristic, man-as-machine appeal and the crop tops may not be well
received by real men who do not participate in sports as a career. However, the collection included elegant
day suits in sand tones and clever tee ensembles in playful colors that are some of
Zucchell’s best ideas in the collection.
