As the tale of menswear spring 2011 unfolds, Burberry Prorsum continues to
be the rock n roll star of the evening. With certain signature pieces like the trench coat
taken a step above with smart additions that feel more current,
without overdoing it Burberry’s Chief Creative Officer, Christopher Bailey successfully infused the
label’s classic image with the rebellious spirit of a biker via James
Dean in “Rebel without a Cause” for a collection of leather and studs
that appeared to look like the Now.
Cropped jackets, vests, long mysterious coats and skinny trousers all
had an aged and beaten look of a man who is rough around the edges.
There were many glimpses of tough masculinity running through
the collection provided by studs or spikes applied to military-esque coats or accessories, even boots
or hyper masculine cork-soled sandals. Certain Burberry signatures were jolted into
the future with smart additions that felt younger, liver, and most importantly above
any trend.
